Suniel Shetty on son Ahan joining Border 2: I know you’ll give it your everything

On October 3, Sunny Deol announced Ahan Shetty’s addition to the Border 2 cast via Instagram. Ahan’s father, veteran actor Suniel Shetty, shared his pride and joy with a heartfelt post on X.
Suniel, who played the pivotal role of Assistant Commandant Bhairav Singh in Border, wrote a post on X complimenting his son. “So proud to see you step into the world of Border. The journey I started years ago has now come full circle. I know you will give it your everything. This one’s extra special for obvious reasons—it’s all heart (sic),” Suniel wrote.
Ahan also posted a long note on Instagram and wrote, “Ironic how life works—my journey with Border started 29 years ago, when mom visited dad on set while pregnant with me. I grew up hearing OP Dutta’s legendary stories, holding JP uncle’s hand, and sitting by @nidhiduttaofficial side. I never realized how much those moments would shape my love for cinema and the Indian Armed Forces. Now, being part of Border 2 is an absolute honour (sic).”
“JP uncle, thank you for continuing to hold my hand, I hope to make you very very proud. Nidhi, your hard work brought this dream to life, thank you for all that you are and do. Bhushan Sir, thank you for trusting me with this opportunity, I’m eternally grateful. @anurag_singh_films sir, I’m excited to work under your guidance. Working with @iamsunnydeol sir is a blessing, and I can’t wait to share the screen with @varundvn who I look up to as an older brother. As a huge @diljitdosanjh fan, sharing the screen with him is surreal (sic),” wrote Ahan.
He also wrote, “And to you, Papa—everything I am is because of you, and I’ll do my best to honor the legacy you’ve worked so hard to create (sic).”
The film, set to release on January 23, 2026, promises to be a significant addition to Bollywood’s lineup of patriotic war dramas.
Border 2 will be directed by Anurag Singh, who has previously helmed Kesari, Punjab 1984, Jatt & Juliet and Dil Bole Hadippa!, among others. The film was announced on June 13, 2024, marking 27 years of Border. It has been declared “India’s biggest war film” by the makers.
